Tata + NTT DOCOMO is new arrival in telecom as TATA DOCOMO
TATA DOCOMO - The first time when i came across the new ad displayed over the TV and newspaper then i wonder why such a name was chosen by a well established company like TATA teleservices for its new GSM service launch and why they don’t choose their old brand TATA Indicom’s new GSM service as several companies do? But after searching for the reason i found that this was looking as joint venture between NTT DOCOMO the leading telecom company from JAPAN which has the 50% market in phone service providing are. This venture in India have been allotted spectrum in 18 telecom circles and it has already been started in several circles.
In Japan NTT DOCOMO has already played some vital role while developing fine cutting edge technologies and service in the evolution of Mobile telecommunications. And it has already established industry benchmarks withits 3G technology and products like the I-modeTM, mobile payment and a plethora of lifestyle-enhancing applications. Today, while most of the rest of the industry is only beginning to talk of LTE technology and its possible applications, DOCOMO has already started conducting LTE trials in physical geographies, not just inside laboratories!
According to blog at TATA - “TATA DOCOMO has also set up a ‘Business and Technology Cooperation Committee, comprising of senior personnel from both companies. The committee is responsible for the identification of key areas where the two companies will work together. DOCOMO, the world’s leading mobile operator, will work closely with the Tata Teleservices Limited management and provide know-how on helping the company develop its GSM business.”
Though in the first site both of the companies are leader in the respective countries as if we talk about TATA, it being the late entrant has been achieved a significant place in Indian market with its telecom Brand — TATA Indicom CDMA service started in 1996. Now Tata Teleservices Limited, along with Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd, serves over 37 million customers in more than 320,000 towns and villages across the country offering a wide range of telephony services including Mobile Services, Wireless Desktop Phones, Public Booth Telephony and Wire-line Services. And looking at its past experience it can be assumed that TATA DOCOMO’s future will be bright…..
