Windows Hibernation: Enhancing a PC’s capabilities
Windows Hibernation : A concept added to the windows to let it remember where you were previously when you need to leave your computer in a hurry. Confused? Let me explain, suppose you are working on a file and have several programs at the time but suddenly you need to go for any other task. Now what the option left it save all the files you are working with and close all your application and next time reopen everything when you return from job. A lot of time consuming and irritating job and this become worst when we are working on some very large files which took a lot of time when saving them. This is where Hibernation comes in place and once we choose it, it remember all the settings and the state of windows and after restoration everything resumes where they were.
Now you must be thinking how couldn’t yourself was unaware of such utility where you can find it. So let me tell you with in windows xp visit to Control panel and find Power Option and double click over it to run it. To the next pop comes locate hibernate tab and enable it. Then in the same pop up locate advance tab and at below with in the Power Buttons click the drop down menu written as “when I press the power butto…..” and choose to Hibernate. Now the next time when you press the power button your system will automatically go to hibernation mode and again after restarting will restore to the original location.
The above steps are for windows xp and for there is even there is much easier process as explained below:
- Click Start, All Programs.
- Right click on Command Prompt.
- Click on Run as administrator and then click Continue.
- In the command prompt console, type “powercfg –h on” (or “off” without the quotes) and hit the Enter button.
- Done.
