Mpg Thumbnail Preview Missing: Install the missing Registry Settings

Hi friends long ago I was also facing the same situation of missing previews of all mpg files stored on the system in windows explorer then I came to a solution as if was because of some missing registry settings. Below is the missing registry file (link given) download and install it by double clicking over it. There are chances that you may restore the missing thumbnails… Enjoy mpg viewing…..

    Hi,
    I faced the same problem, and kinda solved with help of rakeshb03, and a little bit of reg editor:
    1 - Creat a .txt file, copying these lines:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.XXX\ShellEx]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.XXX\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11D1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
    @=”{9DBD2C50-62AD-11D0-B806-00C04FD706EC}”

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.XXX\ShellEx\{e357fccd-a995-4576-b01f-234630154e96}]
    @=”{9DBD2C50-62AD-11D0-B806-00C04FD706EC}”

    2 - Exchange the .XXX for the format that Windows 7 don´t preview anymore (*.avi, *asf, *.mov, *.mpg, etc)

    3 - In the specific case of *.mpeg, I also add the following line:

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mpeg\PersistentHandler]
    @=”{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}”

    4 - Save the *.txt file with *.reg extention, and then run it!

    5 - You may also have to open one *.avi file, with the option “always use wmp “;

    This worked fine for me, no reboot, and I decided to post about it cause took to much google time to fix it :)
