Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is ready to hit in India (ever wished to change your service provider)

Published by rakeshb03 under Mobile Reviews, News Edit This

mpn.JPGTRAI in a very tough decision unveils the draft norms regulations for the implementations for the number portability allowing consumers to change their telecom service providers retaining their old number. This service was quite in demand from several years and yesterday it was announced by the TRAI that new service will be first be launched in some metros and states around September 20.

The guidelines proposed  by the TRAI concludes that every consumer who wants to change its consumer would have to pay some fees though the amount is not yet cleared but it seems that it will be around 200 to 450, according to some telecom gurus, Once the service is changed he/she must remain with service provider for 90 days if he wish to change it again. There would also be written undertaking with the existing service provider before swiching to new, and the whole process of identity verification, bill clearance will be redone before the changing process completed. Though, the time span will be only 5 days to complete all these process.

For this purpose the Department of Telecom (DoT) has already appointed two companies — Syniverse Technologies and MNP Interconnect — to be the MNP service provider, manage day-to-day management and implementation, and also maintain the database of all numbers. While MNP will kick off in metros and category A circles such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat on September 20, the rest of the country will have access to this facility from March 20, 2010.

Though this service is quite awaited for a long time and now it has somehow finalized, the matter which will be under observation will be “how the established companies like Airtel, Vodafone etc. handle this whole matter”  and for some newbies like Aircel, virgin or other this will be definitely a good deal ……..

Beware of Pre-release movies links - Most of them are malwares

Published by rakeshb03 under Hacking Tips, News Edit This

spam.jpgDon’t be surprised if you received a link with in a  mail or while searching on Google to download a movie which is yet to be released as it is very likely that most of them will be spams as they used to spread malwares or spyware in your PC. This happens because now spammers or hackers are targeting the very popular terms or the movies for which a lot of us very often search like harry potter movies or the software which are yet to be release. But once we reach to the targeted link we found that it asks for any plug-in or patch to install for effective download or to view videos properly. And many of us who are unaware of the fact download or install these malwares and hence targeted for several attacks.

The same thing also happens once these movies are released with in the torrents or direct download links  from Rapidsahr, megaupload or several others. My main aim here is to introduce about such fraud and unless you trust any website or link don’t allow any suspicious act to happen.

Share your views if any of such links you received or ever you caught in the similar situation.
