Show Desktop Icon missing - The recovery solution

Are you familiar with the small Show Desktop button located in the Quick Launch Toolbar .  This button is very useful when we want to access to the Desktop when multiple application are running and we want to avoid minimizing each and every application. But what if it has been accidentally deleted or missing from the Quick Launch Toolbar. As it is somehow very critical to make this reappear for even an advance user as this is not a simple program to create a shortcut but a extension to create the shortcut. But don’t worry if you are also missing it the solution explained below :

To do so simply open the notepad and copy the following codes given below :

[Shell]

Command = 2

IconFile = explorer.exe, 3

[Taskbar]

Command = ToggleDesktop

Now save this file as the name “ Show Desktop.scf ” in the folder

C:\ Documents and Settings\Username” \Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Here Username is the log in information you use to log into windows if you don’t use any log in information then look for if a “Default User” or “All Users” exits and save it there..

Now close the Notepad application and  very likely that you will regain your show desktop icon if not restart the Windows Hopefully it will solve your problem. Once the problem solved you can also use “Windows key+D ” to toggle between the desktop as this is shortcut for Show Desktop.
