Block unwanted Popups or ads in Opera with this simple ad-blocker

Published by rakeshb03 under Hacking Tips Edit This

So, if you recall one of my earlier post ”How to Block unwanted Popups or ads on Internet Explorer” and found it of no use if you use Opera, Then here is a solution for you also. However Opera would not considered as the best browser among the users but it definitely the best in terms of reliability and most secured web-browser available today. To block ad, image or any flash media content in Opera you only need to download the *.ini settings from the link given below and once installed, you only need to right-click on empty spot on the page and select Block Content Menu item and choose from the images or content you want to block.

1. Click here to download the pattern file to block ad content.

2. Open Opera and type in the address bar as “opera:config#URL%20Filter%20File”without quotes to get the location of urlfilter.ini file if the file not exists then instead of panicking copy one that you have downloaded and if exists then overwrite it.

3. Restart Opera your ad-blocking should work now.

4. Now, this is the final step if you want to add your own filter patterns, navigate to Tools-> Advanced-> Blocked content and use the Add button to create custom filtering patterns as shown below.
