Google is still paying of its Gmail outrage……Giving excuses

Published by rakeshb03 under Google News Edit This

gmail.pngAs i have written yesterday as some of Google’s Major Corporates were  demanding the reasons behind mishap if its Gmail Outrage. Google has said about this issue as it happens during the load shift of the traffic to other servers which resulted crashing of its own servers. Gmail site reliability manager Acacio Cruz on early Wednesday morning said ” We were simultaneously trying a new code that tries to keep data geographically close to its owner causing another data centre in Europe to become overloaded. This caused cascading problems from one data centre to another”. But this excuse terming all as “self mistake” by Google is seem some how not digestible as Google has already using ‘Captcha’ system that can only recognized by humans and there is chances that it has faced a botneck attack, caused by zombie pc’s controlled by mischief-makers, resulting as a crash of Gmail’s data centers.

However, whichever should be the reasons but it is certainly degrading the credibility of Google Services. Sheri McLeish, analyst for Forrester Research told on Wednesday “It’s damaging to their credibility, and it puts in a tough position those folks that made a strategic bet in moving off of Exchange.”

But if we calculate the overall downtime that may happen to Google in a year, some studies says it can not be more than  10 - 15 minutes in a month. Which never seems to be a very big enough, making Google somehow actually more reliable. But it seems that it is the media attention that has aroused this issue, which results in a public relations nightmare seeking questions on Google credibility. But Nevertheless, Gmail is more reliable than Exchange and other on-premises software, if we see the total outraged affected very few users.
