How to create your own CorelDraw Custom Color Palette

Published by rakeshb03 under Corel Draw Tips Edit This

As most of us working with Coreldraw never seems to play with the default color palette comes with software installation. But have you ever imagine that you can create your own custom palette or can add several colors as you need them very frequently. Below i have included the picture of default color palette bundled with the software and second one which i made from vivid colors that i used most frequently.

And i  assume that a lot of us know this is not very tough to learn but for a new one i think he must have wondered how to do it. How we can change the color palette from the Coreldraw environment.

Let me first tell you how to add a custom color to default palette. For this purpose what you have to do is just right click and hold the mouse button on any color from the palette only for two second and when you release the mouse button you will find a pop menu as shown below.

Note : I assume you know how to set default color  properties for fill and outline color for any new object you create by clicking on any color, left button for fill color and right button for outline color. As soon as you clock on any color a pop window will prompt for which object you would like to set the default properties. By checking the right option the next time you create that object it will have same color which you have chosen.

Now let’s come to the topic from the above picture you can find from highlighted menu “edit” that there are three option Change Color, Palette Editor and Find color. The first one thorough ‘change color‘ we can change the color values of selected color to any value which we like that should have to be there.

Through  the above menu which is most appealing to me is palette editor which gives us the flexibility to be able to reconfigure the whole palette which is most suitable to us. On clicking that menu it will give us a popup window as shown below.

Through this window you can drag any color to any desired location and can configure like changing the whole color values or deleting any color or adding a new color or sorting these through their color values like hues, saturation etc..

Through this above popup window  you are capable of change any other color palette file which you have not loaded into workspace.

Now you must be wondering how to add a color palette  into the workspace from any external file. This is also very simple as i have written earlier you have to press the right button for 2 seconds and the popup menu that appear you have to click on palette there you will find menus like new, open, save or save as and clicking on open menu you can navigate to external palette file from anywhere on your computer to add that file into the Coreldraw workspace.

Plz note that the default location of the coreldraw palette is “C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\User Custom Data\Palettes” where C: is the primary drive where your coreldraw installed and user name is through which you have logon to the computer.

If you want to try out the color palette which i have drawn you can visit the following link  to download the above color palette.
