A way to remove the taskbar balloon popup - Sometimes which is very annoying

pop-up.jpgOccasionally the Windows XP Taskbar pops up help in the form of small balloons, such as when a network connection is established or disconnected or when the desktop cleanup wizard needs to run. These alerts can be intrusive and annoying but a registry fix can take care of them.

To disable the balloon tip notifications complete the following steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.

2. Navigate to the following subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

3. Right-click the right pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.

4. Double-click this new entry, and then give it a hexadecimal value of 0.

5. Quit Registry Editor. Log off Windows, and then log back on.

However this can be done using Tweak UI for windows disscussed here.
