Thumbnail view of Photoshop cs3 files in windows explorer
Are you faced any problem with Photoshop Files preview in Windows explorer. Is it Missing or there is no preview at all. While the preview of other image file formats Jpg, Png, Bmp etc. are OK. Now it is nothing to worry. This is just because ADOBE has removed their psd file preview in favour of their Adobebridge software and it made many of the photoshop users in irritation. Now oyu don’t need to do any coomplex modificatiopn to any of windows registry or have to load any application, they just only removed a DLL file and registry link. They can be fixed by providing these missing files. Just download the attached Zip file and Follow the instruction. You will get your thumbnail preview of the psd files back.
1) Copy psicon.dll to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell if this folder doesn’t exist create it.
2) Run Adobe.reg
3) You now can view PSD files in thumbnail view within explorer.
You can download these files from link below.

How come I already have a psicon.dll in this directory (using windows vista) but I still can’t see photoshop file thumnails as icons instead of the default photoshop image…?
I am having the same problem with Vista 64bit.
Hi…..Thanxxxxx… a gallon for this help…I got what I required…I was searching for it since long. You simplify my work a lot… Thanks again…
Yaaay! Thanks so much for this! I found another site with the same fix, downloaded the files and follwed directions, including running the adobe.reg, but still was unable to view my PSD thumbnails. So I tried again with yours, and this time it worked! Yay! SO glad to have this back again!! (I had it before, but lost it in a recent ‘puter melt-down)
I downloaded the .dll file and went to, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe, and then had to create a file and called it Shell. I put the file in the folder and then ran the Adobe.reg file and it didn’t change anything. Can you see that I did anything wrong?
I’m using Windows Vista and running Photoshop CS3.
My mistake! Never mind my last post… lol I just had to restart my computer and now it works GREAT!!!
Thanks sooo much for your effort in posting the link and instructions.
